Get to know Ali

Hi guys, I’m Ali (she/her, Virgo, mother of two, dog lover, wine aficionado and owner/designer at Stylish Soirées). Thank you so much for visiting my website – and this blog in particular. ❤️

I hope that we get to work together at some stage so I can learn more about you. But in the meantime, I was told I should really share a bit of information about myself, so here goes…

I’m married and have two fabulous daughters, a Bernese Mountain Dog called Poppy… and my dream job in party styling!

Once upon a time I was a professional ice skater, travelling the world with Disney on Ice. I then became a preschool teacher and still actually teach one day a week – but these days most of my time is spent planning and decorating parties for the people of Perth (not to mention driving my kids to endless dance rehearsals, Nippers training and netball games!).

You wouldn’t think these two wildly different jobs, ice skating and teaching, would lead me to my current career in party styling, but in a strange way I think they were the perfect training ground – I get to combine the creativity of skating and performing, with the “herding cats” skills you need when you’re working with young children!

My biggest joy in life (apart from my gorgeous family) is helping people to create magic celebrations, so I definitely picked the right career for me!

I can’t live without…

My family

I’m the mother of two gorgeous girls, Lucy and Sophie, and have been married since 2006 to my beautiful husband, Eddie. It was actually Eddie who suggested I start Stylish Soirées, so you can thank/blame him! As a family we love all the usual things like watching movies and going to the beach – although these days Eddie and I seem to spend a lot of time watching our dance-mad daughters film routines for TikTok!

My must-haves

Everyone’s got their own special list of things they need in their life – mine are wine, tea, coffee, eye liner… and Spanx!

Poppy the dog

Poppy is a Bernese Mountain Dog, and the loveliest, biggest, friendliest dog you’ll ever meet. She’s seven years old now – we’ve had her since she was eight weeks old, and she’s just the light of our lives.
